Christmas in Wrocław

On 15th December pupils from schools of Kolonowskie commune, participating in the Festival of German Theatres, together with their guardians in reward went for a trip to Wroclaw. The main purpose of tour was Christmas Fair in this city.

But being in this beautiful city of Lower Silesia, you can not confine yourself only to visit one place. So the first “object” on a sightseeing tour was the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany. There pupils acquainted themselves with activity of diplomatic post. Then they went to the Ostrów Tumski – a place where history of Wroclaw began. There they saw the Gothic Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. On the way back, in the Church of Our Lady on the Ostrow Sand, they admired the mechanical nativity.

The main purpose of tour – Christmas Fair – was at the Wroclaw Market Square that in itself is worth seeing. Now it offers truly Christmas atmosphere. At the fair was everything that is associated with such places. So, there was a big decorated Christmas tree, a large number of stalls where you could make last holiday shopping. There were also roast chestnuts, gingerbread hearts and (obviously not for children) mulled wine. Especially for the young there was prepared “Fabulous Wood”, and who was lucky – could meet Dwarf called “Prezentuś” who fulfilled wishes.

Wroclaw is a very interesting city that hides many surprises, sometimes it is a pity that time does not allow to discover all of them.
