A TRIP TO BERLIN

On 31th August the Socio-Cultural Association of the Germans in the Silesia Province (DFK), branch in Staniszcze Małe, organized a trip to Berlin, Germany. 48 people took part in this trip, both inhabitants of Kolonowskie commune and neighbouring communes. The trip was planned at 4 o’clock in the morning, the tourists reached Berlin at 10 a.m.

The tour included visiting the most valuable attractions of Berlin such as: the Berlin Wall, the square called Alexanderplatz, the boulevard Under the linden trees, the Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial - officially named the Monument to the Murdered Jews in Europe, the Victory Column, the Potsdamer Platz. The biggest attraction of the whole trip was a visit to the Bundestag and a cruise on the Spree river while they admired the Reichstag - the seat of the German Parliament, the government quarter – the Regierungsviertel, the House of World Cultures and on the way back also the Martin Luther King Bridge with a view of the Bellevue Palace, the Beamtenschlange (civil servant accommodation) and the Victory Column, the new central station, the Berlin Cathedral, Museum Island and the oldest residential district in Berlin – Nikolaiviertel among others.

Tired and full of impressions participants of the trip returned to their homes at around 1 o’clock a.m.
